Spotlight on Education and Youth Initiatives

Mt. Pulaski High Adds New Sports Programs

In a win for student engagement, Mt. Pulaski High School is introducing two new extracurricular activities: cross country and bass fishing. The decision came after surveys showed growing student interest and community support.

Superintendent Jason Spang told DeWitt Daily News that the additions were about “meeting kids where they are and offering healthy, constructive outlets.”

Bass fishing, which is now sanctioned by the IHSA, has seen popularity surge across rural Illinois, while cross country promotes individual goal-setting and endurance. Coaches have already begun planning team activities for fall.
